A Peaceful Sunday Morning at Kave Rock

Although the sun was not shining, the air was crisp and clean. The farm felt so peaceful this morning that I thought it would be nice to take some photos to share. Of course I had to take a few pictures of my favorite subjects. As soon as I plant myself in the field with the alpacas, they surround me. They are curious and also hopeful that I have some grain in my hand. Little Summer is now 4 months old and getting very fluffy! Everyone admires her little bunny rabbit nose. Her fiber is incredible and has many qualities we look for …crimp, fineness, density. Jett, our jet black male, is now 5 weeks old and his personality is beginning to emerge.
Finally, I’d like to thank all who stopped by our display at the Carpenter Museum’s Art & Artisans Fair at Francis Farm this past weekend.

Benefits of alpaca fiber

We continue to learn and be amazed by the quality of alpaca fiber.
Did you know …..?
*Alpaca fiber is lanolin free
(unlike sheep wool which has lanolin and cause an itchy feeling)
*Alpaca fiber is fire resistant
*Alpaca fiber is breathable and non-allergenic
*Alpaca fiber naturally prevents dust mites
*Alpaca fiber is porous and stays dry
(sheep wool absorbs 25-30% moisture whereas alpaca absorbs 40-45%)

Visit us to see our alpacas or to purchase some quality products at one of our upcoming events or call to make an appointment here at Kave Rock Farm! (401) 465-7589

Happy Birthday, Lee!!

Our little man, Lee, is TWO years old today. He’s wet with snow as you can see in the picture I took today. It’s not a great photo since the crown of his head is matted down. He certainly is a handsome dude and destined to be our herdsire in another year or so. Lee was the first yearling we purchased after the ‘original five’ and holds a special place in my heart. He’s ever curious, a good buddy to our dog, Mason and always willing to snuggle up nose-to-nose with female visitors. Happy second birthday, Lee!!
